Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA)
At St. Anne’s we are always looking at ways in which we can improve our work with parents and carers and also establish stronger links within our community. Consequently, we have embarked on an exciting national award called Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) which we hope we will achieve early next year. It is a challenging, but rewarding, venture that should impact on every child, parent, carer, member of staff at St. Anne’s and also our local community.
What is the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA)
The LPPA is a nationally recognised award which is achieved by schools who work closely with the parent/carers of their pupils and their community. The assessment is made by an external advisor. It offers long term benefits such as improved pupil attendance and behaviour and increased parental involvement and support. We hope that by improving links with parents and the community we can nurture a welcoming and warm environment for everyone coming to visit our school
About Leading Parent Partnership Award
The award is designed to help strengthen and enhance the relationship between parents, children and their schools. The benefits of gaining the award are immense but the long-term benefits of gaining the award are as follows:
- Improved pupil attendance, punctuality, behaviour and progress
- Increased parental participation and involvement
- Key parental support for children's learning
- Improved home and school communications
LPPA Key Objectives
The LPPA consists of ten evidence-based objectives which schools must meet to achieve the award.
The 10 LPPA Objectives are as follows:
- The school demonstrates a commitment to work towards the LPPA
- The school makes and implements effective plans to achieve and maintain the LPPA
- The school is a welcoming and friendly place for parents/carers.
- The school promotes an awareness of and participation in lifelong learning opportunities available in school and the community to all groups of parents/carers.
- The school actively promotes enrichment opportunities or events for joint parent/child participation.
- The school provides good induction for all new parents/carers.
- The school provides parents/carers with relevant and user-friendly guidance and information to help them support their children's learning.
- The school produces and implements parent/carer friendly policies to establish effective home school links and improve pupil/student attendance, punctuality, behaviour and progress and positive participation in school.
- The school provides good support for transition for parents/carers when their children leave the school.
- The school evaluates performance against the LPPA Objectives and Key Performance Indicators.
What does research show about quality parent involvement:
It is clear that children do better and achieve more when parents and carers are involved with their child’s learning. Parents, carers and family members are by far the most important influences on their child's lives. Research shows that becoming involved in the life of your child's school shows your child that their education is important.
What difference will the award make to the work done with families at St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School?
It will make our work with families even better. It will improve our communication and build more activities for families in school. As a part of our commitment to all LPPA stakeholders, we at St. Anne’s, believe that strengthening home/school involvement supports improvements in a number of aspects within the school community:
Professional relationships between teachers and parents.
Parents gain a better understanding of how the school works.
Parents can see how their child is working and improving.
Be setting a good example to young people.
Parents will have the satisfaction of knowing that they are contributing to the school and to their and other children's learning.
What can families do to help?
- Read all newsletters and publicity we send out.
- Come along to our events if you are able.
- Complete any questionnaires or surveys we send out as honestly as you can.
- Come and speak with us directly if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.
